Painting the town pink for women in lifesaving

Thomastown Recreation & Aquatic Centre (TRAC), turned pink as we celebrated women in lifesaving with Pink Patrol!

The event was marked by staff donning pink hats or incorporating a splash of pink into their attire, accompanied by a morning or afternoon tea. Pink Patrol is a Life Saving Victoria (LSV) initiative recognising the invaluable contributions made by women, both past and present, in the lifesaving community.

Recognising Pink Patrol not only celebrates the role of women in lifesaving but also shows a commitment to empowering future generations of women and girls to pursue opportunities in lifesaving and the aquatics industry.

What is Pink Patrol?

The primary aim of the LSV initiative is to honour and celebrate the diverse contributions women have made to lifesaving, both historically and in contemporary times.

The initiative seeks to inspire and empower future generations of women and girls by providing positive role models and fostering a supportive environment within the lifesaving community.

Jarrad Carey, Venue Manager at TRAC, said, “We were incredibly proud to witness the enthusiasm of over 200 members from our City of Whittlesea sites including Whittlesea Swim Centre, as they wholeheartedly embraced the Pink Patrol initiative. The sight of pink wristbands and decorations sparked numerous meaningful conversations and joyful interactions, underscoring the importance of celebrating and supporting women in lifesaving.”

Pink Patrol represents not just a colour or a symbol but a movement dedicated to honouring the past, celebrating the present and empowering the future of women in lifesaving.

As TRAC has demonstrated, the power of Pink Patrol lies in its ability to unite communities, inspire individuals and create a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
